Dave Dorman
Head Coach

In just three seasons, Philadelphia Jr. Flyers Head Ice Hockey Coach, Dave Dorman, has established a successful Junior Hockey program within the Tri-State area. To date, every one of Coach Dorman's teams have finished the season with a winning record and last year, he guided a third year Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MJHL) team to the USA Hockey Junior National Tournament. In his first and second seasons as Head Coach at the Junior level, he was selected by the league and his peers to be one of the coaches to lead his conference in the MJHL All-Star Game.

Coach Dorman grew up in the Greater Philadelphia area and played his youth hockey for both the Valley Forge Minutemen and the now defunct Flyers Alumni at the Tier I level. It was during this time his passion for the game grew and he decided to leave the area and continued his career playing at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts. While at Berkshire School, Dave showed his athletic talents went beyond hockey by starring as a three sport Varsity athlete in soccer and baseball as well. He received All League accolades in baseball before arriving at Berkshire and All New England honors in soccer while at prep school.

After Berkshire, Dave decided to take a post-graduate year at Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School in Kingston, PA where he captained the hockey team and played alongside current Jr. Flyer Assistant Coach and lifelong friend Nicholas McCreary.

Coach Dorman continued his hockey career with a year of Junior A on the East Coast before he finished his playing days with NCAA Division III Neumann College of the ECAC West.

A USA Hockey Advanced (Level 4) Certified Coach, Dave began his coaching career leading the Tier II West Chester Quakers to an Atlantic District Championship. In his second year of coaching the Quakers, he led his team to another Atlantic District Championship and a Bronze Medal at the USA Hockey National Tournament. The following season, Coach Dorman took over a young Jr. Flyer Junior Program. In his first season, he led the team to a 31-11 record which was good for 3rd place in the MJHL. In his second season, he was joined by Coach McCreary behind the bench and the two of them coached the team to a 33-5-0-5 record which led to Dorman's second appearance at a USA Hockey National Tournament.

Dorman's passion for the game is credited to the many great coaches he has played under throughout his career and it is this passion and pride he wishes to pass along to his players. Dorman's coaching philosophy rests on his belief that character development through sports is the greatest opportunity an athlete can have.
